Mark R. Mercurio, MD, FAAP, Director of Yale Pediatric Ethics Program, Associate Professor of Yale University School of Medicine and attending neonatologist for Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital

Dr. Mark R. Mercurio is Director of the Yale Pediatric Ethics Program, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine, and an attending neonatologist at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences from Princeton University and his M.D. from Columbia University. He completed Pediatrics Residency and Neonatology Fellowship at Yale, and received a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Brown University. He has nineteen years' experience in clinical ethics committee work, and currently serves as Chair of the Pediatric Ethics Committee at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee at Yale-New Haven Hospital. At present he is the director of the Medical Ethics courses for the Physician Associates and Pediatrics Residents, and a member of the Executive Committee for the Yale University Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics. His academic work has focused on ethical issues in pediatrics, particularly in the newborn period.
