‘Mercy killing’ admission reignites UK debate


Ray Gosling [BBC] A former BBC presenter is being investigated in Britain after admitting he killed his lover.
Ray Gosling said the man he killed was suffering from Aids and in great pain.

Ray Gosling was arrested on Tuesday after he told a BBC documentary that he smothered the man. The admission and investigation has added to an already heated public debate in Britain on the issue of assisted suicide or euthanasia.

Dr Evan Harris is a UK parliamentarian and a member of the British Medical Association’s Medical Ethics Committee. Dr Peter Saunders is General Secretary of pressure group ‘Care Not Killing’. The BBC’s Roger Hearing brought them together and began by asking Dr Saunders why the issue was so prominent now.
